Personality: Henry is shy and an introvert, it is these two things most people are likely to notice first. He prefers to spend a great deal of time by himself, alone with his own thoughts and hobbies. There is a difference between being alone and loneliness and it is clear Henry does not fear loneliness by being alone. It is one of the first things we the player learn about him. We're told Henry had moved into South Ashfield Apartments two years prior to the game's beginning and that he was very happy with his life. In these two years it is also revealed Henry knows little more than the names and faces of his neighbors who know even less about him. He lives alone and doesn't show any remarkable contacts attempting to reach him while he is trapped in his apartment.
Despite this, Henry doesn't dislike people. Compared to others, his need to be with and interact with people is fulfilled on a much lower level. As a result, he can come across as socially awkward in meetings and bolder bigger personalities can fluster him quite easily. Meeting Cynthia in the subway world for the first time is evidence of that, when she invades his personal space and she teases him. Though they can make him nervous, people don't frighten him either and once he gets past his initial hesitation Henry is a fine enough conversationalist and unafraid to ask questions.
He is a thinker and a deep one. There are noticeable pauses in his speech, trying to convey exactly what it is he wants to say. More logically minded, Henry's first step towards anything is to collect information and organize it. We see this with his scrapbook in game and that he keeps every bit of paper evidence he finds. Henry is good at connecting the dots and is open minded enough to keep all possibilities available (his first visits to Otherworlds he has little to no information on them, thinking of them as metaphorical nightmares at first but not denying anything that happened to him or the people he met there).
Even tempered, even when run down, tired, and anxious as hell after being chased by ghosts, Henry is just as quiet in personality. It takes a lot to make him angry and even when frustrated or annoyed, he isn't the most expressive and it may be hard to notice at first. Going through the events of Silent Hill 4, being forcibly cut-off from freedom and the option of companionship and forced to fight for his life, Henry was certainly scared and hurting. He's not a trained fighter and many of his encounters with monsters were swing and run (run run run) but Henry didn't let these obstacles stop him and it's in the mistakes and failures he makes throughout the game we see his strength of character.
Henry is compassionate and without knowing any of the victims (save for one and she was little more than an acquaintance) he does his best to help them time and time again. He tries harder once he realizes they'll die, that death in these strange worlds means death in the real world. He searches through six floors of a dark damp prison to release a man trapped in a cell and burns his hand when he tries to rescue a man from an electric chair. He escorts an injured woman who he only knows from passing nods as his neighbor through the later half of the game, revisiting all the hellish nightmare worlds and does his best to keep her out of harm's way. The game's good endings center around Henry's ability to protect and her death (or survival) at the game's ending is completely dependent on Henry.
Henry might not be the loudest or the toughest but he cares and he tries. He's a problem solver through and through. There's a distance to crack with him, he can be too quiet and stubborn and hard to reach but once you do you'll find a valuable ally and someone you'd very much like to know and call a friend.
Abilities: Henry Townshend is your average joe, human and not too far away from thirty. He has no magical or supernatural abilities that are his own, he showed a sensitivity to the ghosts and hauntings in the game (he would clutch his forehead whenever a ghost was nearby and suffer a painful headache) but these incidents seem isolated and unlikely to ever occur again outside of Walter Sullivan's twisted worlds.
WE DO HOWEVER KNOW HENRY IS AWESOME AT SCRAP BOOKING AND PHOTOGRAPHY (one of the few explicitly shown canon details about him, photography is his most beloved hobby, as seen by the majority of the photos framed and hung up in his apartment were taken by him).
Otherwise, no other particular abilities worth noting.
Sample Entry: I actually have a musebox thread to link to, so I will use it /o/
